Conservation

Our southern waters are blessed with a magnificent environment,
wonderful fishing, and wonderful conservation groups dedicated
to keeping it that way.

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Deep South is proud to have
partnerships with these outstanding conservation groups::

Anglers for Conservation
Bonefish and Tarpon Trust
Coastal Conservation Association
Federation of Fly Fishers
More on each group below

Anglers for Conservation
Web: www.anglersforconservation.org

Our goal -- a new generation of marine stewards. Anglers for Conservation works within recreational fishing communities to create a new generation of marine stewards by establishing Marine Stewardship and Hook Kids on Fishing Programs. These programs focus on providing extended short and long-term classroom and in-the-field fishing, boating and marine conservation education and training to youth and their parents. A non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, Anglers For Conservation, through funding from individual donors and grants from foundations and government, offers its programs to various segments of the general public in the community.

Bonefish and Tarpon Trust
Web: www.bonefishtarpontrust.org

BTT was formed in 1998 by a group of anglers, guides, and scientists in the Florida Keys who wanted to learn more about bonefish and tarpon in order to enhance their dwindling populations.

Bonefish & Tarpon Trust works to conserve and enhance global bonefish, tarpon, and permit fisheries and their environments through stewardship, research, education, and advocacy. The BTT serves as a repository for information on to the life history of these species and works internationally with anglers, guides, scientists, regulators, and the public to nurture and enhance fish populations.

Coastal Conservation Association
Web: www.joincca.org

Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) is a non-profit organization with 17 coastal state chapters spanning the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic seaboard, and the Pacific Northwest. CCA advises and educates the public on conservation of marine resources. The objective of CCA is to conserve, promote, and enhance the present and future availability of those coastal resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public. CCA has participated productively in virtually every national fisheries debate since 1984. In the federal court system, CCA’s legal defense fund has been used to defend net bans; fight for the implementation of bycatch reduction devices; support pro-fisheries legislation; and battle arbitrary no-fishing zones.

Federation of Fly Fishers
Web: www.fedflyfishers.org

The Federation of Fly Fishers is a 46 year old international non-profit organization dedicated to the betterment of the sport of fly fishing through Conservation, Restoration and Education. The Federation of Fly Fishers and its Councils are the only organized advocate for fly fishers on a regional, national and international level.

The FFF has grown to 16 councils, approximately 225 clubs and 13,000 individual members.  Our goal is to support fisheries conservation and educational programs for all fish and all waters. Anywhere fly fishers have an interest, the FFF can and does play a role.
